Spin off snark. Stupid comment wank, ahoy.

  • Nov. 29th, 2009 at 5:31 AM
Meet Nadienne. She thinks art school is for rich bitches with lots of money and too much free time.

Sadly I cannot comment since she blocked me from her page after telling me in that "fuck your art school bullshit" snark from earlier tonight that critiquing anyone at all was rude and harassment and that wanting to help people improve and thinking they should state it if they don't want critique meant that I had a stick up my ass. She claims she's been in art school for six years, but I say show me a degree or it didn't happen. Sounds to me like somebody flunked and is butthurt about it.

Anyway, I figure that there could be some good stupidity about to blossom on her journal, so I thought I'd toss this out there. This is a record for me; two blocks within five days and both people went all internet tough guy about it on their journals afterwords.
I've read through all the comments left on the previous mod post & I don't think anything else will be added to the list. The ones I personally agreed with are supposed to be against the rules anyway & everything else listed is annoying but not posted often enough to begin with.

I can't really think of much else that could be done right now so if anyone has any other suggestions for how we could improve the community, leave a comment here. I may consider it!

Also I'm sure that these daily mod posts have been making many of you uneasy so here is some arm-attached-to-head goodness to make up for it.

Fic Search

  • Nov. 29th, 2009 at 1:57 AM
Not sure if this is kosher, but I'm looking for a specific Good Omens fic, and this is the only GO comm I know about.

I believe it was Aziraphale/Crowley. It picked up right where the book ended, with Aziraphale and Crowley driving back to London in a rainstorm. At some point, Aziraphale quoted Neruda- "I do not love you except because I love you."

And I think maybe Crowley tried to give Aziraphale one of his plants.

Possibly, I am getting multiple fics confused. But any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated! <3

Found! In comments.

Okay, brainstorming session, fellow MSTies!

  • Nov. 29th, 2009 at 12:05 AM
Since I've finally gotten a proper TV and a more visitor-friendly layout for my den, I'm inviting some friends over for an MST3K party next month. Just a couple of shorts ("Cheating" and "A Date With Your Family"), the main feature "Space Mutiny," and the "Cloverfield" Rifftrax if anyone wants to stick around. I'm not gonna' get too fancy with the refreshments because I really don't have the money for it, but I would like to make some kind of gift bags for my guests. Haven't had time to browse the dollar stores to see what they have, so I thought I'd come to y'all for ideas. I'm passing the buck to you. Any input is much appreciated.

Picspam: Janeway

  • Nov. 28th, 2009 at 5:34 PM
I thought this comm could use a little more Voyager love, and specifically more Janeway love! She is the ultimate HBIC in Star Trek: a brilliant scientific mind, tough as nails, always professional, and completely dedicated to the goal of getting her crew home in one piece -- without compromising Starfleet ideals. At the same time, she's witty, kind, and compassionate towards every member of her crew. I definitely consider her a role model, and to show my admiration for her, I bring you a number of photos and quotes of this amazing character!

Here's an interesting one! Rather than mount the magazine vertically as in modern firearms, it's mounted horizontally, with individual chambers for each pinfire cartridge.

These preview clips are available for download to everyone when you access the Getty Images site.
